Job Purpose:

The Project Manager serves as the focal point for the project inside Syria, responsible for the overall management of project implementation. This includes ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of all project components, grant management, coordination with stakeholders, oversight of field teams, budget management, and compliance with donor and organizational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Leadership and Coordination

· Act as the lead representative of the project in Syria, ensuring effective coordination with field teams, technical leads, support departments, and external stakeholders.

· Lead planning, execution, and day-to-day oversight of project activities across education, child protection, and cross-sectoral components.

· Ensure the project is implemented in alignment with Violet’s standards, partner guidelines, and sector best practices.

2. Grant and Budget Management

· Oversee the full grant lifecycle, including startup, implementation, and closeout phases.

· Monitor project budget and expenditures to ensure spending is aligned with approved plans and within donor-approved limits.

· Prepare budget forecasts and flag under/overspending risks in coordination with the Finance Department.

· Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial and narrative updates to the Program Manager and Grants team.

3. Team Supervision and Capacity Building

· Line-manage key project staff, ensuring clear workplans and deliverables.

· Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and performance monitoring to ensure high-quality implementation.

· Promote accountability, protection principles, and team well-being in all field operations.

4. Quality Assurance and Monitoring

· Work closely with the M&E team to ensure tracking of project indicators, documentation of lessons learned, and quality control of activities.

· Conduct regular field visits and verification missions to assess progress, identify challenges, and provide support to local teams.

· Lead project review and reflection processes, adapting implementation where necessary based on findings and feedback.

5. Internal and External Representation

· Serve as the project’s main liaison with local authorities, sector coordinators (Education, CP), Education Directorate and Assemblies, and community stakeholders.

· Participate in relevant inter-agency and sector coordination meetings and share project updates and findings.

· Coordinate closely with the partner focal points, providing inputs as needed and ensuring compliance with pooled fund guidance.

6. Compliance, Reporting, and Documentation

· Ensure all project activities comply with partner requirements, humanitarian standards, and Violet's internal policies (including PSEA, AAP, Child Safeguarding).

· Lead the drafting and submission of partner reports, success stories, and case studies in collaboration with relevant teams.

· Maintain accurate project documentation and support external evaluations or audits when applicable.

Any other duties

Monitor and supervise field staff to ensure they understand their responsibilities under the Child Protection Policy and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policy and are committed to implementing them in all activities. They are responsible for safeguarding the information they receive when sharing it at the management level. Raise awareness among the community and relevant staff about the Child Protection Policy and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policy, as well as reporting mechanisms and how to handle such reports.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience):

Essential:

Bachelor’s degree in project management, International Development, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum 1–3 years of experience managing donor-funded humanitarian or development projects, preferably in education or child protection.

Experience with integrated education and CP projects is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of the Syrian humanitarian context, including access, coordination, and operational challenges.

Professionalism and takes direction well; organized, displays sound judgment, has solid problem solving, and critical thinking skills

Flexibility and cultural sensitivity, with an understanding of teaching issues and needs in Syria

Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills; will often need to work quite independently

Excellent work ethic with a positive and flexible attitude

Willing to travel

Competent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office
