The Program Officer will play a key role in supporting the design, coordination, implementation, and supervising of Aid Gate Organization’s humanitarian and development programs in Center and South of Damascus. The position requires strong coordination skills, field engagement, and the ability to liaise effectively with government entities and humanitarian actors.
Key Responsibilities
. Coordination & Representation
- Participate actively in relevant clusters and working groups at national and sub-national levels.
- Represent Aid Gate Organization in coordination forums, ensuring timely sharing of program updates and advocacy points.
- Maintain effective relationships with UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
. Government Liaison
- Serve as the focal point for communication with Ministries and government departments.
- Facilitate approvals, access letters, and other documentation required for program implementation.
- Ensure compliance with national regulations and reporting requirements.
. Field Program Support
- Provide operational and logistical support to field teams in Latakia, Sweida, Damascus, and Rural Damascus.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, assess needs, and support implementation.
- Troubleshoot challenges and escalate issues to the Program team as needed.
. Monitoring & Evaluation Support
- Collaborate with the M&E department to facilitate area assessments and data collection.
- Support the development of assessment tools and ensure quality and timely reporting.
- Contribute to lessons learned and program improvement initiatives.
. Program Development & Reporting
- Assist in drafting concept notes, proposals, and donor reports.
- Contribute to program planning, budgeting, and documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of program activities and achievements.
. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to Aid Gate Organization’s policies, donor regulations, and humanitarian standards.
- Support internal and external audits and evaluations.
- Promote accountability and transparency in all program activities.
. Knowledge Sharing
- Document best practices and success stories for internal learning and external communication.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in humanitarian or development programming.
- Strong understanding of the Syrian context and humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
- Proven experience in government liaison and field operations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
