Job Purpose:

The Marketing & Communications Manager leads WATAN’s strategic marketing, advocacy visibility, brand positioning, and audience engagement efforts. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Budget Management

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing, communications, and advocacy strategies aligned with WATAN’s mission and organizational objectives.
  • Plan and execute campaigns across local, national, international, and digital channels to drive qualified reach and engagement.
  • Lead strategic advocacy planning linked to program outcomes.
  • Manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation, accountability, and impact.

Digital Marketing & Content

Oversee WATAN’s websites, social media platforms, and digital channels.

Lead the production of high‑quality, engaging content for websites, blogs, campaigns, and media platforms.

Supervise content creation, copy-writing, curation, and experimentation with digital acquisition channels.

Stay abreast of digital tools, platforms, design software, and emerging media trends.

Brand, PR & Media Relations

Protect and strengthen WATAN’s brand, public image, and visual identity across all outputs.

Manage relationships with media outlets and ensure effective press coverage across TV, radio, print, and online platforms.

Monitor media presence and public sentiment.

Design visibility initiatives such as events, campaigns, and innovative engagement activities to enhance brand awareness.

Campaign Management & Audience Acquisition

Lead the design and execution of marketing and advocacy campaigns from concept to delivery.

Apply both organic and paid acquisition strategies, including PPC and lead generation.

Support advocacy initiatives and event implementation.

Partnerships & Fundraising Support

Build and maintain strategic relationships with partners, networks, and donors.

Support fundraising efforts through proposal development, marketing materials, and donor communications.

Oversee marketing deliverables for donor‑funded advocacy and visibility projects.

Performance & Optimization

Define KPIs and measure the effectiveness of campaigns and channels.

Lead performance analysis, reporting, learning, and optimization across the media team.

Leadership & Internal Alignment

Lead, coach, and evaluate the media and communications team.

Ensure effective internal communication and alignment with programs and business development.

Promote brand consistency and strategic coherence across all departments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree Media & Marketing

Languages Arabic-English

Strong relationships with the press, local, national, international media agencies and media platforms (News TV channels- Newspaper - Radio - News websites).

Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate.

Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends).

Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, etc.

Full awareness of the context of work in non-profit organisations.

Abilities and Personal Skills

BS/MS degree in Media & Marketing or a related field.

Minimum experience five years in Media & Marketing together and managing, training and developing an integrated media team.

Strong analytical and project management skills.

Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and diplomatic skills.

Experience in setting up and optimising Google Ad words campaigns.

Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures with spreadsheets.

Good taste, a sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty communication

Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.

Confident and dynamic personality.

Excellent communication, lobbying, and active listening skills.
